- Bloom time: Blooms seven to 10 days after Climax — late February to early March in the southern growing region.
- Ripening period: Ripens with Climax and Premier — late May, early June — in Southern Mississippi.
- Plant yield, vigor and growth habits: Plants are productive, vigorous, and moderately spreading.
- Berry qualities: Berries are large and have very good color, firmness, flavor, and a dry picking scar.
- Variety replacement possibility: Vernon is considered to be a potential replacement for Climax or Premier.
- Breeding history: Released jointly by the University of Georgia and the United States Department of Agriculture-ARS in 2004; patented.
